This statement has been prepared to help those with disabilities to assess
whether our holiday cottage will be accessible to them.

APPROACH TO COTTAGE:-  
There is a sloping entrance into Meadowside Mews leading to a level, block paved courtyard. A double parking space can be reserved a few yards from the front door on request. There is a step down from the car park to an unobstructed, partly covered passageway leading to the front door. The step has a yellow stripe painted on the edges and there is a warning notice about the step posted on the fence. Security lighting is activated at night.

COTTAGE:-
One shallow step up into hallway.
All ground floors are of laminated wood.
Stairs and bedrooms are carpeted.
Bedrooms, bathroom and toilet are on the first floor.
Stairs are not steep. Seven stairs with a hand rail lead to a half landing where a chair can be provided on request. Six further stairs with a hand rail to main landing.
All internal doors have lever handles and all doors are a contrasting colour to the paintwork. Internal doors on ground floor have vision panels and there is ample natural lighting in all rooms except the bathroom.
Low level oven/grill and standard height kitchen units with under cupboard lighting.
Brightly coloured crockery and towels are available on request.
MAGIPULL - ring pull opener effortlessly opens all ring pull cans; no need to touch sharp edges of can.
JARKEY - opens jars effortlessly in seconds by popping the jar's vacuum so the lid spins free. Prevents wrist strain and is endorsed by the USA Arthritis Association and approved by the Disabled Living Centres Council.
EZ SQUEEZE - one handed can opener.
Beds are accessed from both sides.
Touch lamps provided.
Television, video player, cd and radio players have remote control access.
Portable step provided in the bathroom.
Thermostatically controlled electric shower over the bath.
Two grab handles provided to the sides of the bath.
Anti-slip mat provided.
Toilet next to wash hand basin.
Assistance with luggage available.
Audio books provided with a brief description and running time printed in large font. Portable personal CD player supplied to listen to books whilst resting in bed or relaxing away from the cottage [can be slipped into jacket pocket].
Magnifying glass provided.
Mobile telephone provided which will vibrate as well as ring and can be supplied with a hands' free connection for easier and louder listening.
A familiarisation tour of the cottage together with advice and assistance on the use of appliances, emergency services with telephone numbers, nearest shops, public transport etc. is given on arrival.
Bus stop is situated within walking distance on main road a few yards from Meadowside Mews. Reasonably level pavements to city.

ALLERGY SUFFERERS AND ASTHMATICS:-
Anti allergy pillows provided.
No feather duvets.
Pot pourri and fresh flowers can be removed on request.
Smoking is strictly forbidden.
Some of our complimentary chocolates and biscuits may contain nuts. [Please inform us if children are diabetics. Chocolates and biscuits can either be removed and replaced with small gifts or stored out of sight for the rest of the family to enjoy.]
